Meeting with UK Ambassador Jill Morris, Rome 27 October 2017

UK ambassador to Italy, Jill Morris was very generous with her time on Friday 27 October when we met in her residence after a very interesting talk given by former UK Minister Lord Marland (see The Italian Insider Lord Marland hails Rome Commonwealth Club’s 70th).

We discussed the real progress made recently towards a final resolution to the unfair and illegitimate  treatment of UK lecturers in Italy. I thank the ambassador, her staff and the UK government for continuing to play an active role on our behalf.

One Response to Meeting with UK Ambassador Jill Morris, Rome 27 October 2017

  1. Glad to see this David, Do you perceive a new willingness on the part of HMG to “thump the table” vis-a-vis the Italian govt,? Since we are now on our way out of the EU, we should be less inhibited about appearing as “bad Europeans”… and so less inclined to pussyfoot around when British citizens are actually being hurt by another European State, as in the case of the foreign language lecturers in Italian Universities. .
